August Sew Day...

On Thursday  we had about 14 ladies come to our Thursday sew day. It was fantastic to see so many there. We had already decided that we were sewing blocks for a charity quilt that we are making. Leanne had the blocks cut ready to go. Everyone sewed at such a fast pace that 2/3 of the blocks are already done. Well done ladies!!!

We ran low on a few pieces so Leanne has cut more and they will be at All About Sewing to pick up if you wish on Thursday Sept 1.

We need to get the blocks done ASAP so we can start selling tickets for the raffle to be drawn at the Sew-a-thon on October 29.

Thanks Everyone for such a great effort.

Charity
This year we have been making pillows and bags for Breast Cancer. A huge cheers goes to Lyn Mac. She has made hundreds of them. Great Job Lyn !! Also thanks to all the other memberswho have had a hand in making them. It really makes a difference in someones life.

Our next Charity project is close to our hearts. Rhonda White's grand daughter Keira has a brain injury that causes severe epilepsy, cerebral palsy and slow development.
She needs constant care and spends alot of time in and out of hospital. As you can imagine, this takes a huge emotional and financial toll on the whole family.

Sydney Bus Trip July 2011

On Saturday July 23 a  bus load of members headed down the highway for a day of fabric shopping and lots of laughs.

Our first stop was at Craft Depot, Pennant Hills. We were first through the door and shopped up a storm. It can be quite overwhelming with all that fabric. Decisions, Decisions... but we managed..

Next off to Material Obsession at Drummoyne. So colourful. There was much to choose from and tonnes of inspiation. The ladies here were lovely and very helpful.

We had lunch at Birkenhead Point. WOW!! I think a few of us will be back here to shop some more. They had fabulous factory outlet shops. The prices were great and it was all good quality.

Our next stop was a cute little shop Calico & Ivy in Balmain. It was packed with beautiful fabrics, lots of giftwares and gorgeous yarns for knitting and crochet. They were really welcoming and happy for us to be there.

The front of Calico & Ivy.....

Some intense faces there...

Buying up big. Way to go girls...

The last stop was Logan's Patchwork at Liechhardt. Even more fabric to choose from. It was hard to pass  on the discount fabrics. Ladies found the Asian fabrics they were looking for and others found that little something for their stash.

A great day was had by everyone. A huge thanks goes out to Wally for driving all the cackling ladies around the town.
Can't wait for the next one....

Cheers
Leanne
